Kadıoglu, 24, has been a standout performer for Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig. His impressive displays have not gone unnoticed, catching the eye of top European clubs. Last season, Kadıoğlu made 51 appearances for the Yellow Canaries, contributing three goals and five assists, showcasing his versatility and attacking prowess from the left-back position. He is being considered by the Gunners as Tierney might settle down permanently at Real Sociedad ahead of the new season.

According to Arsenal are ready to spend €20m (£17m/$21.5m) to land the defender at Emirates. However, Arsenal are alone in their pursuit of Kadıoğlu. German giants Borussia Dortmund have also expressed strong interest in the Turkish player and have made a higher bid of €25 million (£21m/$27m). The involvement of Nuri Şahin, a former Dortmund player with Turkish roots, is expected to play a pivotal role in their negotiations.

DID YOU KNOW?

Despite the substantial offers from both Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, Fenerbahce have remained firm in their valuation of Kadıoglu. The club's president, Ali Koc, has reportedly set a price tag of €35 million or more for the talented left-back. This stance reflects the club’s recognition of Kadıoglu’s value and their desire to maximize the return on one of their key assets.

Kadıoglu is currently under contract with Fenerbahce until June 2026. This long-term deal puts the Turkish club in a strong negotiating position, allowing them to demand a higher transfer fee.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s pursuit of Kadıoglu aligns with their broader transfer strategy of targeting young, versatile players who can add depth and quality to the squad. Manager Mikel Arteta has been keen on building a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts, and Kadıoğlu’s acquisition would be a significant step in that direction.

U-turn: Aston Villa pull plug on striker signing with new Emery plan shared

Aston Villa have pulled the plug on a new signing, with a report sharing Unai Emery’s new plan.

Aston Villa transfers

NSWE have really kicked into gear in the final days of the January window, with a number of new players set to follow right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic through the Villa Park door.

The Serbian, who has been loaned back to Red Star Belgrade, was the only winter window addition for the majority of the month. However, Villa now look on course to seal as many as three deadline-day signings.

Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers is the big new name in the Midlands in the final hours of the window, whereas Adelaide United goalkeeper Joe Gauci and Arsenal youngster Lino Sousa are also set to be announced as signings.

That will be a goalkeeper, two full-backs and a winger brought in, but when it comes to a striker, it looks as if Emery has different ideas.

Aston Villa abandon striker signing

As per Football Insider in the last 24 hours, Aston Villa have abandoned their plans to sign a new striker. The club held talks with multiple attacking targets this month, but Emery is now planning to use summer signing Nicolo Zaniolo as a back-up striker to Ollie Watkins for the remainder of the campaign.

"Aston Villa have abandoned their plans to sign a new striker late in the window due to their concerns over breaching financial guidelines, sources have told Football Insider. The Villans, like many clubs across the Premier League, have been very cautious of overspending this month and this has now halted plans to add depth to their frontline.

"It comes following talks this month with multiple forward targets who could have slotted straight into the team. Sources have told Football Insider that Villa boss Unai Emery and his coaching staff are now planning to use summer addition Nicolo Zaniolo as a back-up striker to Ollie Watkins for the remainder of the season."

The likes of Chelsea’s Armando Broja and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee have been mooted as striker targets throughout the month, but it looks as if Emery will go with Watkins, Jhon Duran and Zaniolo as his central options until the summer.

Watkins has been in fine form once again during Emery’s first full season in charge, scoring 15 goals and registering 10 assists in 31 games in all competitions. Duran has netted four times in 23 appearances, whereas Zaniolo’s two Villa goals came in December. The Italian has already played in six different attacking positions this season, but it looks as if Emery wants to mould him into a striker when Watkins isn’t available.

Spurs make contract offer to sign star who nearly joined Pochettino in 2018

Tottenham Hotspur have offered one club's "spectacular" player a four-year contract to join Ange Postecoglou, coming after he considered signing for Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs in 2018.

Rejuvenated Spurs chasing top-four finish

The north Londoners have been given a new lease of life this season, with the appointment of Postecoglou being one of chairman Daniel Levy's best decisions of recent years.

Spurs preparing "firm move" for "underrated" star who Lange wanted at Villa

Tottenham’s technical director has a real history with him.

ByEmilio Galantini Feb 15, 2024

The Australian, who won a plethora of honours at Celtic before swapping Glasgow for north London, is an increasingly popular figure at the club. His brand of intense, high-pressing football has won plenty of admirers, including the likes of Gary Neville, as Tottenham contend for Champions League qualification.

"What you cannot deny is the football," said Neville on Postecoglou.

"It sounds really simple this but football fans love watching exciting football. They will forgive a lot if you actually are watching football that is breath-taking.

“It is such a brilliant way of playing. I used to love (Mauricio) Pochettino’s time here because his football was high energy, front foot, pressing. The technical level that we’re watching out there in this Spurs team is fantastic."

While they're set to go another season trophyless, if things continue on this upward trajectory, it could only be a matter of time before the Lilywhites clinch major silverware.

The feel-good feeling around Tottenham is already being noticed from afar, with the club's growing pull helping them to beat both Bayern Munich and Barcelona to the signings of Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall in January.

They've already been linked with more big names in the summer as well, like Brentford star Ivan Toney, but another very interesting elite target to emerge this week is Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutchman, who's been called "spectacular" by Barca boss Xavi, actually admitted to nearly joining Spurs in 2018 – before opting for the Camp Nou.

"I considered their [Tottenham] offer long and hard. I see Tottenham as a very stable club, and they are only getting better," de Jong told FourFourTwo via Sky Sports.

"They give young players a chance and I see Mauricio Pochettino as a manager who really improves young players. I like the kind of football they are playing. I think it would have suited my game."

Now, as per Jijantes FC and journalist Gerard Romero, Postecoglou's side have come back in for the midfielder.

Spurs offer Frenkie de Jong a four-year deal to join

Indeed, it is believed Tottenham have offered a four-year deal to de Jong as they attempt to sign him, with an out-of-window bid made to Barcelona as well.

The 26-year-old has started 16 La Liga games under Xavi this season, averaging a 93% passing accuracy in that time, with WhoScored also rating him as one of Barca's best performers.

Arsenal flop was compared to Saka after signing but now he’s set to leave

As Arsenal romped to a 6-0 win over Declan Rice's former employers, West Ham, on Sunday, it marked a special win not only for the club but for a certain Bukayo Saka.

Alongside Mikel Arteta the 22-year-old has carried this club to new heights in recent campaigns with the cherry on top potentially being a Premier League title in May.

For now, however, he will be content to have registered his 100th goal contribution in Arsenal colours.

That was brought up with a spot-kick in the first half of that thrashing over the weekend before in typical Saka fashion, he scored a second by cutting inside and fizzing an effort past Alphonse Areola.

When asked if he knew he'd reached a century for the Gunners post-match, he raised that innocent smile of his that simply makes you weak at the knees. Not just boasting elite finesse on the pitch, the England star has the type of bubbly personality that makes him one of the most well-liked players in the game.

But where did that quest for 100-goal involvements start? In the Europa League against Frankfurt in September 2019. You can probably guess the goal. Yep, that's right, he cut inside and deliciously curled the ball into the far corner: trademark Saka.

However, he isn't the only young Gunner to make their mark in that competition in years gone.

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka copycat

The 8th September 2022 will be a day that forever goes down in history for a particularly sad reason. It was the day Her Majesty the Queen passed away, leaving behind a remarkable legacy having sat on the British throne for 70 years. Coincidentally, it came during Arsenal's meeting with FC Zurich in the Europa League.

Football the following weekend was postponed but on Swiss shores on that Thursday evening, play continued. For one young Arsenal star, it will be a day they never forget though. Thankfully, for all the right reasons.

First Impressions

What did pundits and fans alike think about their new star signing when they arrived? Football FanCast's 'First Impressions' series has everything you need.

The player in question is Marquinhos, a dazzling Brazilian footballer with the world at his feet. So we thought anyway.

As Arteta's men sealed a 2-1 win over Zurich, the winger scored his first and sadly, only goal for the north Londoners. Eddie Nketiah raced down the right-hand side and then slid the ball across the box perfectly for Marquinhos to find the net on his debut.

It was an exciting start to life in English football for the winger who was just 19 at the time. Speaking after the game, Martin Keown compared him to a former Arsenal player, as well as Saka:

"It was like Saka in that position, it’s almost a copycat performance. That’s what you’re really looking for. He looked a bit like a [Serge] Gnabry type player. He’s short, stocky, explosive pace. He looked very classy. He picked and chose his moments cleverly, whipped a couple of crosses in."

However, since that moment he's never rarely been seen in the famous red and white.

Why Marquinhos is leaving Arsenal

As it happens the 20-year-old is now on the verge of leaving Arsenal, only a year and a bit after that fantastic introduction.

It's been reported that he is set to seal a loan-to-buy move to Fluminense in his homeland. The youngster will return back to Brazil after what feels like a very fleeting stay in the capital, making just six appearances for the Gunners' first team.

So, why has it never really happened for him in London? Well, the emergence and form of Saka won't have helped his cause, nor have some rather unconvincing loan spells.

His first was with Norwich City in the Championship where he actually made a lightning-quick start before things petered out badly. Describing his time at Carrow Road, Football FanCast writer and Norwich supporter Dan Emery said: "He had an unreal start with a goal and assist on debut and then flattered to deceive after that." Fair words.

Indeed, after such a promising debut for Norwich – as he had for Arsenal too – the wide man failed to score or assist across a further ten league appearances at the back end of 2022/23.

A temporary stint with Nantes in the first half of this campaign didn't go well either, assisting one goal across seven matches. Marquinhos didn't even start a game.

Unfortunately, he has never lived up to the dizzying heights expected of him by Keown. A talented individual there is no doubt about that, but Arsenal's trajectory is on the up and they need players ready to make an impact. The Brazilian, sadly, is not.

Xabi Alonso: Net worth, salary, age, wife, number, Liverpool manager & more

Xabi Alonso is a name that many fans are starting to hear more and more nowadays, as his Bayer Leverkusen side continue to defy expectations over in Germany, having gone unbeaten in the Bundesliga after 20 games.

And with the recent news of Jürgen Klopp announcing his departure from Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, a lot of rumours have started to circulate involving the former Reds midfielder.

Football FanCast has decided to take a deeper dive into his accomplishments, personal life and what made him the man he is today.

Who is Xabi Alonso?

Xabier Alonso Olano is a Spanish football coach and former professional player who is currently the head coach of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

Alonso was born on 25th November 1981 in Tolosa, Spain, making him 42 years of age.

He made a name for himself as a midfield enforcer, mainly in his time at Liverpool and Real Madrid. He ended his career with 18 trophies to his name, which included one World Cup, two Champions Leagues, two European Championships, three German and one Spanish league titles, two UEFA Super Cups, one German Cup winners' medal, one FA Cup, two Copas del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, one German Super Cup and a Community Shield.

Xabi Alonso's salary at Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.

When Xabi Alonso extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen until August 2026, he is thought to have received a huge pay rise. According to German outlet Bild, the former Spain international now earns up to €6m (£5.12m) a year.

Just to put this into perspective, he would be the sixth-highest-paid manager in the Premier League.

Xabi Alonso's net worth

Of course, no one can put an exact number on Xabi Alonso's net worth apart from the man himself. However, Celebrity Net Worth claims that the Bayer Leverkusen boss is worth around $20m (£15.9m).

The majority of his money will have been earned during his trophy-laden playing career, with clubs like Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid no doubt paying a high premium in terms of his wages. If you add his current managerial wages as well as any investments and side projects he may have, then you could say his net worth may even be more than that figure above.

Xabi Alonso's wife

The Spaniard is married to Nagore Aranburu.

There's a bit of a romance story involving the pair as they met all the way back during Alonso's youth days at Real Sociedad.

Nagore has had a number of jobs, working as a model, actor, fashion designer, and as many Liverpool fans will remember, a receptionist.

There is a rather comical story of when she worked as a hotel receptionist in Liverpool, where Peter Crouch later admitted he had fallen in love with her. Little did he know that it was Alonso's wife, which was later relayed to him by Jamie Carragher.

Xabi Alonso's squad number at Liverpool

Xabi Alonso famously wore the number 14 shirt throughout his time at Liverpool, and it's safe to say it served him well.

In terms of other clubs, it varied, but he has a clear favourite.

Xabi Alonso to Liverpool rumours

If the bookies are anything to go by, Alonso looks like the man to take the reins from Jürgen Klopp, as he's currently priced at 1/2 at Sky Bet to land the Anfield job this summer.

And the current noise around Liverpool is that the Spaniard has been pushed forward as a strong candidate to replace the German, which isn't really a surprise given how well Bayer Leverkusen are doing this season and his obvious links to Merseyside.

Xabi Alonso's retirement

Xabi Alonso announced his retirement on his social media back in March 2017 at the age of 35, with an iconic post that stated; 'Lived it. Loved it. Farewell, beautiful game.'

The 375,000 likes that the post received shows just how appreciated he was and how much he did for the game.

Xabi Alonso's stats as a player

Xabi Alonso made a whopping 695 appearances throughout this career, which spanned across five professional clubs. He managed to accumulate 43 goals and 69 assists across his career.

The three most notable teams were Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but he did also play for Real Sociedad and Eibar.

Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen managerial record

Xabi Alonso has set things alight this season at Bayer Leverkusen. The German club are currently 30 games unbeaten in all competitions and are sitting pretty at the top of the Bundesliga table.

The Spaniard has been in charge of 67 games in Leverkusen, losing just 10 times, drawing 14 and winning 43, which gives him a points-per-match total of 2.13.

Xabi Alonso's formation and tactics at Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.

Xabi Alonso's favourite formation is 3-4-2-1, which has brought him huge success in Germany this term.

Everyone knows their roles. The centre of the pitch is packed with bodies, leaving room for the pacey wide-men to advance. Goals can come from anywhere in Alonso's sides, with his wing-backs and two more attacking midfielders playing huge roles.

The wide-men play high when in possession, but when the ball is lost, they pull back to around the halfway line.

One key to any Alonso side is having potent finishers throughout the side, which has been evident as Victor Boniface, Patrik Schick, Amine Adli, Nathan Tella, Jonas Hofmann, Florian Wirtz, Adam Hlozek, Jonathan Tah, Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong have all contributed to a combined 76 goals so far this season, and we're only 30 games in.

5 Arsenal starlets Norwich could target if Carlos Cuesta takes charge

Despite Norwich City turning their fortunes around as of late in the Championship – signalled in their emphatic 4-1 win over Cardiff City on Saturday – change could still be on the horizon in the Carrow Road dug-out very soon.

David Wagner has been a divisive and unpopular figure in Norfolk as the Canaries boss this campaign, the former Huddersfield Town manager scrutinised heavily when Norwich have played poorly due to his tactical decisions and more leaving a lot to be desired.

Yet, fast forward to proceedings in the second tier regardless of the German's up-and-down time in charge, Norwich now find themselves just outside of the playoffs owing to goal difference.

Still, the Canaries – according to rumours – are targeting Arsenal coach Carlos Cuesta to take over from Wagner at the end of this season.

With former Gunners man Ben Knapper sporting director now at Carrow Road, this bold alternate direction could make sense and could well see Norwich gain a number of starlets from north London in the process.

So, here are five Arsenal youngsters who could potentially relocate to Norfolk soon on temporary loan moves, with Cuesta putting his connections with Arteta and Co to good use…

1 RB – Brooke Norton-Cuffy

Cuesta could well look to bring in young right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy to Norwich on his potential arrival into the building, with the exciting full-back proving – whilst out on loan in the EFL in the past – that he's capable of performing well in the Championship.

Able to operate further forward as a right midfielder if needs be, where Norton-Cuffy can show off his blistering attacking game, the 20-year-old is highly thought of by fans of Rotherham United, Coventry City and Lincoln City having donned their respective strips in short stints.

Scoring two goals and picking up four assists from 69 second-tier appearances to date, Norton-Cuffy is continuing to shine in the Championship with Millwall this season despite their precarious predicament in the division.

The full-throttle defender has helped himself to two goals and two assists this season for the Lions, a bright spark in a side that is currently languishing in 21st position.

Norwich could well be Norton-Cuffy's next destination after he returns back to Arsenal from the Den, bolstering the right-hand side in Norfolk away from Jack Stacey and Christian Fassnacht currently.

2 ST – Mika Biereth

Norwich could also be in the market for an explosive striker come the start of next season under Cuesta, with Mika Biereth eager to show off his goalscoring prowess in the Championship after impressing elsewhere on loan away from the Emirates Stadium.

The 21-year-old Danish striker – who has bagged an impressive 12 goals from 26 appearances with the Arsenal U23s to date – was potent on loan up in Scotland with Motherwell earlier this season with six goals and five assists managed from just 15 games.

The Scottish outfit were distraught when Biereth packed his bags and moved on to Austria in another loan switch, the two-time Denmark U21 international now plying his trade with SK Sturm Graz.

Biereth's free-flowing nature in front of goal has travelled with him to his new surroundings, with the Gunners loanee bagging two goals from three games out in Austria.

Could Norwich fancy taking a punt on the prolific young sharpshooter? With the Canaries unafraid to recruit strikers on loan seen just this January – as Dutch attacker Sydney van Hooijdonk joined on Deadline Day – Biereth could well be lined up for a switch to Carrow Road under Cuesta.

3 RW – Amario Cozier-Duberry

Amario Cozier-Duberry could also be lined up to come in at Norwich next season, potentially filling the void left behind by Jonathan Rowe if he does end up leaving the Canaries behind for pastures new.

The 18-year-old isn't anywhere near Rowe in terms of cutting his teeth at a senior level – with Rowe bagging 13 goals from 32 appearances this season – but Cozier-Duberry has been equally as slick and as tricky as the breakout 20-year-old Canaries attacker whilst playing youth football.

This season, the teenage starlet has accumulated five goals from nine appearances playing in the Premier League 2 which bumps his total up to 12 goals from 38 appearances for the U23s.

Yet to get a taster of senior action away from the Emirates, this could be the perfect loan switch for Cozier-Duberry's development especially if a familiar face in Cuesta can put his arm around the 18-year-old if times are tough acclimatising to the demands of the Championship.

4 CM – Charlie Patino

Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino

Charlie Patino has, however, more than proven himself out on loan away from the comforts of North London with the 20-year-old central midfielder impressing those at Swansea City currently.

Adept at playing as a defensive midfielder alongside being pushed forward to play in an attacking spot behind the strikers, Patino could offer the Canaries an adaptable presence in the middle of the park akin to the likes of Gabriel Sara already present in Norfolk.

Meet Arsenal's 'special' Hale End talent who's ready to rival Nwaneri

Arsenal’s academy has produced some top quality players and this midfielder is no different.

ByZak Anderton Feb 13, 2024

The silky 20-year-old has excelled in an attacking role for the Swans on loan this campaign, picking up four goals and four assists from 27 games played overall.

Those commendable numbers lift Patino's goal contributions to 13 in total from 59 Championship career appearances, with Cuesta keeping the 6-foot midfielder in mind if he does jump into the deep-end of management with the Canaries.

5 CDM – Myles Lewis-Skelly

myles-lewis-skelly-arsenal-charlie-patino-academy-transfer-ornstein

The final player Cuesta could look to target to help add to his new-look Norwich side could be defensive midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly, adding in strength to depth to the holding positions at Carrow Road as a result.

This loan signing could allow for the potential new Norwich manager to unshackle Sara and play him further forward, with Lewis-Skelly more than capable of holding his own in the second tier if given a chance to shine.

From 13 appearances this season for the U23s, the 17-year-old has amassed one goal and five assists for his efforts playing as an anchor for the youthful Gunners.

Signing his first professional contract for Arsenal late last year, the time could be right for Lewis-Skelly to spread his wings with Norwich a potential first loan destination for the teenage midfielder.
