Losing to Bangladesh is just not acceptable in Pakistan even if they are a better side and are playing better cricket on a given day. Bangladesh have not lost any of their five matches against Pakistan, across all three formats, in the last 20 days and fans in Pakistan will be distraught if the visitors don’t win the last and final encounter – the second Test, in Mirpur starting Wednesday.Pakistan have lost more than just matches on this tour but Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq said there wasn’t any “panic” in the camp. He came for the press conference in a witty mood and relatively relaxed as compared to his first interaction with the press on the tour, before the first Test in Khulna. When told he was being criticised once again back home over poor results, he replied: “They are doing it because they have nothing else to do.””It doesn’t matter whatever the situation and we have to cope with the pressure we are in,” he said. “We don’t have to worry about what is happening but the focus should be on playing our best cricket and produce results. We take every game seriously but results are not in our control. The only thing we can ensure is the efforts, and we are doing our best.”Misbah is known for his patient attitude and his defining feature is to keep himself low-profile in public. He refrains from making big statements and absorbs criticisms with a smile. When asked about the kind of pressure he must be under for the final match of the tour, he said: “What is pressure? At such level there is always pressure and this is nothing new. These things do happen and you should learn to give credit to the opponent and you just keep working hard and keep looking for the chances and that’s the only way to get out of such situations.”It’s a game of cricket, anything can happen, especially the way Bangladesh have been playing for the last two months. They proved themselves in the World Cup under tough conditions in Australia and New Zealand, and they got really good confidence from that. And now in their own backyard they are playing very well. You obviously have to be ready because any team can give you tough time.”Pakistan, according to Misbah, didn’t make mistakes in the first Test, but said his bowlers didn’t adapt well on the flat pitch in Khulna. “Dhaka pitch is different from Khulna, it’s good for batting, but at the same time it has something to offer for the bowlers as well,” he said. “So I am hopeful that we will have a result here. We had plans for them and it’s not like we never tried them, but Bangladesh, being in prime form, dealt with them very well. We are looking at some new strategies against them and let’s see how we implement them.”Still no one is favourite in the series as both are equal, and whoever wants to win this will have to be at their best.”

يلتقي فريق الأهلي مع الاتحاد السعودي، مساء اليوم الجمعة، في مباراة الدور الثاني “دور ربع النهائي” ببطولة كأس العالم للأندية 2023.

ولعب الاتحاد مع أوكلاند سيتي النيوزيلندي، مساء الثلاثاء الماضي، في مواجهة الدور التمهيدي الأول لكأس العالم للأندية، وفاز العميد بثلاثة أهداف دون رد، ليتأهل إلى مواجهة الأهلي.

الاتحاد يشارك في بطولة كأس العالم للأندية 2023، ممثلا للدولة المستضيفة “السعودية” وتعد هذه مشاركته الثانية في مونديال الأندية بعد 2005.

على الجانب الآخر، الأهلي يشارك للمرة التاسعة في تاريخه والرابعة على التوالي، بصفته بطل دوري أبطال إفريقيا 2023.

Contra Flamengo e Fortaleza, Luan foi quem fez essa função. Pouco acionado contra o Rubro-Negro – apenas 32 passes, 3º do time -, logo após a chegada do novo treinador, o jovem subiu seus números contra a equipe cearense. No triunfo por 2 a 1, no Morumbi, terminou a partida como o líder de passes certos, completando 70 de 71 tentados.

Former internationals such as Brian Lara will play in the Masters Champions League (MCL), a franchise T20 tournament for retired cricketers set to take place in the UAE in February 2016.The tournament will be made up of six teams in its first year, with a total of 90 players taking part – 15 members per squad. The players must all have been former international cricketers who are now retired from all forms of the professional sport.The MCL has received a 10-year approval from the Emirates Cricket Board, and inaugural matches of the tournament will take place over two weeks in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.”Our ultimate vision is for the MCL to become the natural next step for all international players retiring from the professional game to extend their careers in a masters league,” MCL chairman Zafar Shah said.Adam Gilchrist, Brian Lara, Wasim Akram, Ramiz Raja and Danny Morrison were present at the official launch of the tournament.

Teenage leg-spinner Mason Crane took 2 for 35 on his full debut to help Hampshire to a seventh straight home victory against Surrey.Crane, who was plucked from taking a five-wicket haul for the second team yesterday to replace the injured Chris Wood in the side, claimed the legendary Kumar Sangakkara as his first professional wicket.Adam Wheater had early struck his highest T20 score of 78, beating his previous best of 36, as Hampshire won by 29 to rekindle their quarter-final hopes.After being put in by Gareth Batty, James Vince brought up the first boundary of the night in the second over by dancing down the wicket and slashing through point, before he followed it up with another four through the same region next ball.Michael Carberry took a liking to James Burke’s short and wayward bowling, dispatching him for four boundaries in a row, before he sliced to Jason Roy at backward point.Insights

This win has got Hampshire’s season back on track following three consecutive losses. Although debutant Mason Crane played an important role in the win, perhaps the key to Hampshire’s victory lay before a ball had even been bowled – in their team. It would have been easy for Hampshire to have made some sweeping changes in light of three consecutive defeats, to lose patience with a formula that has got them to five consecutive finals days. They didn’t. Only one change was made. Only a couple of counties have named fewer players in their T20 squads than Hampshire this season: familiarity breeds success.

Vince, with Wheater, thwacked a stand of 50 for the second wicket off 23 balls before the skipper edged to Tom Curran at short third man off Zafar Ansari for 31.Wheater kept the score ticking along with his textbook reverse sweeps and straight drives, and he reached a deserved half-century from 29 balls – as he and Owais Shah added 84 for the third wicket.Wicketkeeper Wheater continued his assault of the Surrey bowling and just managed to clear the man on the boundary to hit his only six, but departed soon after for a sweet 78 off 49 balls.Veteran Azhar Mahmood returned the pick of the bowling figures – 2 for 19 – including two in two deliveries in the penultimate over, Shah picking out Roy for 37 before Will Smith came and went.Hampshire ended on 186 for six, and Surrey’s reply started in stuttering style as Jason Roy collected a boundary with typical oomph, but opening partner Curran chipped nervously to Vince at extra cover.Jackson Bird made it two wickets in three Hampshire deliveries to comprehensively bowl England one-day smasher Roy for a subdued nine.Sangakkara and Vikram Solanki, who have a combined age of 76, got the visitors back on track to end the powerplay on 50 for two.Spin sensation Crane excelled in his opening over in first-team cricket with four dots and a tough caught and bowled chance. A city-based T20 competition could be back on the agenda in England and Wales after a group of county chief executives called upon their colleagues to embrace more radical change.It had been presumed that the meeting of the county chief executives at Trent Bridge on Thursday would simply wave through a raft of proposals to the structure of county cricket that might be termed a compromise between those who want city-based T20 and those who want no change. Those proposals were understood to include introducing promotion and relegation in domestic T20 cricket and a reduced County Championship fixture list with an eight-team top division and 10-team bottom division. The changes would have been implemented for the 2017 season and would last until the current TV deal expires at the end of 2019.But there was a feeling from some at the meeting – not least the MCC chief executive, Derek Brewer – that the proposals were not radical enough. Brewer argued that, with Test revenues expected to come under strain in the next few years, it was essential to exploit the global appeal of the T20 format. English cricket, he said, was missing an opportunity by failing to implement a streamlined, city-based competition in a school holidays window.Others present felt that the positives of moving to two divisions, with broadcasters focusing on the top tier, might be outweighed by the threat of losing lucrative local derby matches – such as Yorkshire’s and Lancashire’s Roses fixtures, which are understood to be worth £300,000 per game.As a result, the counties asked for more clarity on the financial repercussions of each of their options. With some of the larger, Test-hosting counties anxious about their debt issues, the mood for change among the chief executives does appear to be growing. Warwickshire, Hampshire and Glamorgan are among those counties apparently now in favour of a city-based competition.Many of the county chairmen, and most of those in executive positions at the ECB, are already convinced of the benefits of a city-based T20 competition along the lines of Australia’s Big Bash League. It has, until now, been the chief executives who resisted a move in that direction with many of them citing substantial growth in attendances and revenues since the NatWest Blast was scheduled on a more predictable basis and pointing out that the quality of overseas players – both in terms of talent and marketability – involved in the 2015 competition was exceptionally high.But if evidence can be produced ahead of the next county chairmen’s meeting on March 7, and the ECB board meeting that follows it, that a move to a city-based competition will financially benefit all the counties, it remains just about possible that it could yet be introduced in 2017.Time is an issue. The ECB are adamant that agreement must be reached before the season so that teams go into the campaigns knowing what the outcomes could be. For example, the finishing positions in this year’s NatWest Blast would decide which divisions teams would be in next year.It remains likely that the compromise solution – a two-division T20 competition involving all 18 counties with teams financially compensated for a lack of derby games – will be ratified, but it does seem that resistance to more radical change is crumbling.
