The transfer saga that is agonising for Newcastle United fans before serious talk has even started is Joe Willock, and everyone who watched him during his loan spell on Tyneside knows the Magpies have to sign him permanently – former defender Steve Howey hopes talks have already started.

Willock managed to change the way the Magpies attacked games as his ability and willingness to arrive late into the box allowed Allan Saint-Maximin to release the ball earlier and not have to dribble past as many defenders as he could to cut the ball back.

It has been widely reported that Newcastle are very much interested in bringing Willock back to St James’ Park and a fresh twist has emerged that Steve Bruce could look to offer Freddie Woodman as part of any potential deal for the midfielder.

It would be a huge blow for Bruce if he wasn’t able to bring back Willock who he clearly had a great relationship with, and if there is any chance of a deal getting done before pre-season friendlies begin, talks must already be underway and Howey certainly hopes this is the case – as he exclusively told Football FanCast:

“You would have thought that there’s already been a conversation between the clubs, Arteta and Bruce, to say this is what the fee will be as we want to offload him.”

Willock was reportedly available for £20 million this summer but with seven goals in his last seven appearances for the Magpies, it would be widely expected and acceptable if that fee had increased slightly.

At the end of the season, Mikel Arteta was asked about the future of Willock and he claimed that his future was being sorted and organised to remain at Arsenal but there remains hope on Tyneside that a deal can be done.

وتعادل مانشستر سيتي سلبيًا أمام أتلتيكو مدريد ليتأهل لنصف النهائي بفضل فوزه في الذهاب بهدف دون رد.

واشتبك لاعبو الفريقين في نهاية المباراة، واستمرت المشادة لأربع دقائق تقريبًا مع حصول فيليبي لاعب أتلتيكو مدريد على بطاقة حمراء.

O Flamengo não digeriu a justificativa quanto à paralisação do mundo do futebol por conta da pandemia da COVID-19. Neste momento, os jogadores estão em quarentena, seguindo orientações da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), e seguem com as atividades no clube suspensas.

One wonders why Delhi tearaway Ashish Nehra wasn’t invited toshare the new ball with Zaheer Khan. But then again one-day cricket,and especially a festival game of this nature, is unabashedly abatsman’s game.Left-handers are a hopeless minority, albeit a rather distinguishedone, in the game but in recent years their numbers have been creepingup steadily. There is something to be said for the grace and eleganceof left-handers, especially when they play the drive, and JackFingleton once floated the theory that many left-handers are actuallystronger in their right hand which is the top or guiding hand, andhence the rudder, when it comes to the drive. The classing of lefthanders is a difficult proposition since many of them do only certainskills with their left hand and others with the right. In Indiancricket left-handed bowlers are fairly common (both spinners and to alesser extent medium pacers) but left-handed batsmen have been at apremium. It is only lately that this historical imbalance is beingrighted.The first Indian lefthander was PE Palia who played in the country’sinaugural Test against England at Lord’s in 1932. Palia was primarilya middle order batsman who was also a left arm orthodox spinner, aftera fashion. His slow left arm stuff was perhaps underratedbut it was Durrani who delivered the crucial break for India in thePort of Spain Test of 1971 by dismissing Lloyd and Sobers in one over.Another surprising statistic is India’s inability to produce a singleleft-handed wicket keeper in its Test history. The shortage of such aspecies necessitates the selection of a nonspecialist keeper. GulMahomed who kept wickets in three tour games on the 1946 tour ofEngland deputising for DD Hindlekar is probably best suited to fit thebill. Besides being a pugnacious batsman – he had a half share in theworld partnership record of 577 with Vijay Hazare – Gul also displayedquicksilver reflexes in the field, which would doubtless serve in goodstead behind the wickets too.Following in his footsteps, I propose AG Ram Singh, perhaps the finestplayer never to don the flannels for India in an official Test. Itstill remains a mystery how he missed out on the 1936 tour of Englandafter a stellar role in the first two editions in the Ranji Trophy. Adangerous customer with both bat and ball, Ram Singh is succeeded by athird spinning all-rounder in Bapu Nadkarni. The meanest bowler of histime and perhaps of all time – Gary Sobers said he was the only bowlerhe ever saw who sprinted down the wicket to prevent a single after hisdelivery stride – Nadkarni was also good enough to strike one Testcentury.As for left arm seamers, India have had a fair share of them beginningwith Mumbai policeman Ghulam Mustafa Guard in 1958/59, down to ZaheerKhan. The two best were inarguably Rusi Surti and Karsan Ghavri, bothhandy batsmen to boot, the latter having the additional asset ofbowling left arm spin when required. With three left arm spinnersalready in the basket, the team is completed by a fourth, Bishen Bedithe only member of the XI to bat right handed; also the only playerwith minimal batting pretensions. The twelfth man could be EknathSolkar, one of the finest close-in catchers who played for India. Hisprehensile hands grabbed 53 catches in 27 Tests, averaging almost twoper match, one of the highest proportions in Test history.That then is the XI: Saurav Ganguly, Nari Contractor, Vinod Kambli,Ajit Wadekar (captain), Salim Durrani, Gul Mahomed (wicket keeper), AGRam Singh, Bapu Nadkarni, Rusi Surti, Karsan Ghavri and Bishen Bedi.12th man: Eknath Solkar.

Sheffield United stopper Aaron Ramsdale has received a late call into the England EURO 2020 squad, as initially selected goalkeeper Dean Henderson has withdrawn after sustaining an injury [Sky Sports].

Unfortunately for the Manchester United stopper, he is now no longer able to take part in England’s quest for major glory, following news he missed training for the second time this week [Sky Sports].

Revealed to be a hip issue that has caused Henderson serious discomfort, there is now a spot for Ramsdale to fill in the 26-man pack as the Three Lions prepare for the visit of Scotland on Friday [BBC].

فابريزيو رومانو الصحفي الإيطالي الموثوق بشبكة “سكاي سبورتس” البريطانية، أكد أن مجلس إدارة بايرن ميونخ يتفاوض مع وكيل الأعمال الشهير مينو رايولا للتعاقد مع ريان جرافينبيرش.

وكتب رومانو عبر حسابه الرسمي بموقع التواصل الاجتماعي “تويتر”: “لقد عقد مجلس إدارة بايرن ميونخ اجتماعًا مباشرًا اليوم في موناكو مع مينو رايولا”.

A programação de atividades enviada pelo Palmeiras ao elenco é bem parecida com a que ocorre em turnos com focos físicos, como corridas alternando velocidades. Até mesmo trabalho na caixa de areia, como vem ocorrendo com frequência, foi apontado como uma das possibilidades, embora não seja encontrada facilmente.

O recado principal foi de que a segurança é prioridade. Treinar em academias, por exemplo, não foi apontado como orientação. As atividades físicas devem ser realizadas em lugares abertos e com o mínimo número de pessoas. Quanto menos contato, melhor. Para os jogadores e seus familiares.

Em resumo, o pedido é para que os jogadores evitem ficar parados. Existe até a possibilidade de membros da comissão técnica ajudarem pessoalmente alguns jogadores. A preocupação é de que a volta das partidas ocorra bem próxima ao retorno dos treinamentos, algo bem provável diante do calendário, que ficará ainda mais apertado, e o foco é reduzir os prejuízos.

A paralisação das competições começou na semana passada, com a Confederação Sul-Americana de Futebol interrompendo a Libertadores. No domingo e na segunda-feira, respectivamente, Confederação Brasileira de Futebol e Federação Paulista de Futebol fizeram o mesmo com seus torneios. Com isso, o Palmeiras, que já tinha fechado sua sede social na sexta para ajudar a conter o coronavírus, liberou o elenco por tempo indeterminado.

A lista para este jogo teve apenas jogadores que atuam no futebol brasileiro. O confronto na próxima quinta, às 21h45, no Engenhão, e toda a renda será destinada às famílias vitimadas pelo acidente com o voo da Chapecoense, que no fim do ano passado matou 71 pessoas, entre jogadores, comissão técnica, diretoria, jornalistas e tripulação.
