The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is contemplating a series-based deal with broadcasters for the forthcoming matches in this season. Pakistan are scheduled to play two Tests, five ODIs and two T20s against South Africa in Sharjah and Dubai, from October 14. They are also scheduled to play Sri Lanka in the UAE, although the two boards have not confirmed the dates. The PCB is yet to finalise a broadcasting deal after its five-year contract with TEN Sports, worth $140 million, ended last month. However, the PCB incurred a loss of nearly $80 million on this deal, following the cancellation of bilateral series against India between 2009 and 2011. The broadcasting deal is one of the major sources of income for the PCB and, with no series against India scheduled until 2020, these could be testing times for the board as it may be hit by a financial crunch following a long-standing budget-deficit. In 2011-12, the deficit was nearly 700 million Pakistani rupees. The PCB’s Governing Board, in their emergency meeting at the National Cricket Academy, has decided to appoint the former ICC president Ehsan Mani as their advisor on their television deal.”We are yet to issue a tender for the broadcaster after finishing our five-year deal last month,” a PCB spokesman told ESPNcricinfo. “It requires a specific procedural time and systematic restructuring of the bidding process and finalising the deal. But we have an alternative, i.e. to go with a series-by-series deal – in case we need that for any of our upcoming home series – before going into a long-term deal with a broadcaster.”The interim setup of the PCB may also be affecting its chances of securing a long-term deal. The suspension of Zaka Ashraf as chairman led to a delay in the PCB budget this year and the process of renewing the broadcasting deal was also delayed as a result. The PCB’s functions were on hold for almost a month, until the appointment of interim chairman Najam Sethi. The Islamabad High Court has ordered Sethi to hold elections within 90 days but has not given a detailed order. Although the PCB refused to comment on its internal functioning, it has confirmed that the bidding process for a broadcaster is currently on hold, with various other issues taking precedence. It is likely the board may look to secure a six-year deal next year, once a more stable administrative setup is in place.

Muchall keeps Durham hopes alive

Durham completed their Friends Life t20 programme with a fourth successive win when they beat Derbyshire by 37 runs at Chester-le-Street

28-Jul-2013
ScorecardDurham completed their Friends Life t20 programme with a fourth successive win when they beat Derbyshire by 37 runs at Chester-le-Street. The Dynamos must now wait to discover whether they have qualified for the quarter-finals as one of the two best third-placed teams.Durham were penalised 0.25 points for a salary-cap breach last season, leaving them third in the division on 11.75. They now need either defeat for Glamorgan or a no-result between Warwickshire and Somerset in the Midlands/West/Wales Group, or both Essex and Middlesex to lose in the South Group, to see them through as one of the two best third-placed teams. After being put in, Gordon Muchall’s T20 best of 66 not out took Durham to 187 for 3 and earned him the man of the match award. Derbyshire were all out for 150 with seven balls unused. There were three sixes in Muchall’s 26-ball half-century and his stand of 79 in just under seven overs with Scott Borthwick virtually put the game beyond Derbyshire. They looked like making a fight of it as they sped to 42 in the first four overs of their reply, but the challenge faded after Chesney Hughes went down the pitch and was stumped for 34 in Gareth Breese’s first over. Hughes hit seven fours in his 22-ball knock, but the only other significant contribution came from Dan Redfern. He made 43 off 34 balls before falling to a stunning diving catch at long-off by Ben Stokes, who also showed his athleticism with a sharp piece of fielding off his own bowling to run out Alex Hughes.Phil Mustard, playing his 100th T20 game for Durham, contributed 24 from 21 balls to an opening stand of 54 with acting captain Mark Stoneman, who went on to make 47. His exit brought in Muchall at 83 for 2 in the 11th over and two overs later he drove two successive balls from Wes Durston over long-on for six then also cleared the rope off Redfern.Stokes, the competition’s leading six-hitter with 18, was unable to add to his tally. He made 10 not out after going in when Borthwick fell for 31 in the 18th over.

Flower tight-lipped over his future

Andy Flower has declined to deny suggestions that he is considering stepping down from his day-to-day coaching position with the England Test team

Andy Flower has declined to deny suggestions that he is considering stepping down from his day-to-day coaching position with the England Test team.Flower, responding to a story first published by ESPNcricinfo on August 22, insisted he was “not thinking about” the vacancy created by Hugh Morris’ decision to move on from his role as managing director of England cricket, but would not give any guarantees over his long-term future.Flower, who has a young family and has been in the England job since early 2009, scaled back his workload at the end of 2012 in a bid to improve his work-life balance. While he remains team director in all formats, the day-to-day coaching of the limited overs team passed to Ashley Giles. It is believed a similar arrangement is under consideration for the Test team, with Flower not currently committing himself beyond the end of the tour to Australia in January.”I’ve always said you can’t look too far ahead,” Flower said. “You never know what’s just round the corner.”Would I fancy Hugh’s job? I’m not even thinking about that.”England’s relentless schedule has increased the risk of burnout to players and coaches for some time. But while the next few months are as hectic as normal, the end of 2014 offers some respite. England play only one overseas Test next year, in Sydney at the start of January, with the focus later in the year moving to ODI cricket ahead of the World Cup in February and March 2015. Such factors could persuade Flower to remain in position for a while longer.”The reason [in stepping back] was to get a better work-life balance. Being away from home for 250 days a year didn’t allow that. And we were also looking at maximising the use of our resources, in this instance our coaching resources. The structure is still bedding down, but having two coaches dovetailing may well be the best use of the ECB’s resources.”I do take the responsibility that the ECB have given me very seriously,” Flower said. “I’m supposed to make a difference to English cricket in a positive way and I take that responsibility very seriously. I’ll continue to do that.”I don’t have a fixed term contract. I’m very happy with the balance and I’m still enjoying the job. Very much so.”More importantly this series has worked pretty well: we won 3-0. That’s the important thing.”Next year our only away Test is in Sydney. There will be a priority switch to the 2015 World Cup at some stage. It’s too far away to think if I will be there. I don’t think I’ll be under-employed. There’s always plenty to do. I’ve always said you can’t look too far ahead.”If Flower does apply for Morris’ job, it appears he will have the support of his predecessor. Morris, who suggested there will be “an open recruitment” process to fill his role, was effusive in his praise of Flower.”I think whatever role Andy wants to do in the future he will do outstandingly well,” Morris said. “He is somebody who I’ve always admired before he came into the ECB as a player as a person. He has done an outstanding job in his current role. Whatever he wants to put his mind to do in the future, he will do well.”But Morris was also full of praise for Andrew Strauss. While he only retired as a player 12-months ago, Strauss has spent part of this year shadowing Morris in his role and learning some of the skills required for a job in administration.”Similar to Andy, Strauss is an incredibly capable bloke,” Morris said. “He said to me a while ago that when he finished playing he wanted to dip his toe in the water, try different things, see what he enjoyed doing, and then make some decisions. So he is, again, an outstanding man, and whatever he wants to do he will do incredibly well.”I think there will be a lot of people who will fancy a crack at the job. And quite rightly. It is a fantastic job. I have been really lucky to have done it, and done it for as long as I have done. It is a really great department full of really good people. I think we have got some systems in place now for talented kids at the age of 16 all the way through to Cooky, so hopefully they will inherit something that is a very professional system with a lot of good people in it.”

Pacaembu esquecido?

SANTOS (6) 1 X 0 (7) ITUANO – 13/4/2014 – FINAL DO CAMPEONATO PAULISTA

SÃO PAULO 0 X 1 THE STRONGEST – 17/2/2016 – LIBERTADORES

A reforma do Morumbi atrasou, e o São Paulo precisou mandar o clássico no Pacaembu.

PALMEIRAS 1 X 0 CORINTHIANS – 3/4/2016 – CAMPEONATO PAULISTA

PALMEIRAS (5) 1 X 2 (3) SANTOS – 27/3/2018 – SEMIFINAL DO PAULISTA

Jagdale and Shirke resign from BCCI posts

Two top BCCI officials – board secretary Sajnay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke – have resigned their posts following the widespread criticism of the board’s handling of the corruption issues in the IPL

The leadership crisis within the BCCI seems headed towards its endgame with two senior officials – secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke – resigning from their posts following widespread criticism of the board’s handling of the corruption issues in the IPL. Jagdale and Shirke are second and third in the board’s hierarchy and their resignations, while opening up an administrative vacuum, is seen as a message to the president, N Srinivasan, who has insisted on staying in his post in the face of expert and public opinion.Jagdale also said he would not serve on the three-man commission appointed to conduct the inquiry into Gurunath Meiyappan, India Cements, and the owners of Rajasthan Royals. “I had already requested the president not to keep me there. I had never wanted to be there,” he said.”Justice T Jayaram Chouta, one of the two High Court judges on the panel, said the commission would now not be able to function because one of its members had resigned.”I have resigned from the post of the secretary of the BCCI,” Jagdale, who took office in September 2011 when N Srinivasan became BCCI president, told . “I am deeply hurt with the recent developments in Indian cricket. Let some new faces come and take the responsibility.” Jagdale had played 53 first-class matches for MadhyaPradesh, and was a national selector too.”No, there was no pressure, nobody influenced me. I felt deeply hurt, nothing else, there is no [other] reason behind it,” Jagdale told CNN-IBN, when asked if Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association president Jyotiraditya Scindia – who was the first of the BCCI’s senior politicians to speak out – had influenced his decision. “I was hurt as a former cricketer, as an administrator, as a cricket lover, I hurt like any of the millions of cricket lovers in India.”Jagdale did not offer opinion on whether Srinivasan should step down as president. “This was my decision, I leave it for Mr Srinivasan, he has been in the game for a longer period than me,” he said. “He is capable of taking his own decisions.”Shirke had said on Thursday night that he was not happy with the way the BCCI had handled the issues of spot-fixing allegations against three Royals players and betting charges against Gurunath, a top Chennai Super Kings official and Srinivasan’s son-in-law. “Yes that’s true [I have resigned],” Shirke, who also began his term when Srinivasan became president, said. “I have spelt out my reason and don’t want to comment any more. I have already spoken to the media at length, therefore I have resigned.”There is a possibility that there will be more resignations on Saturday morning from the five BCCI vice-presidents, including that of Arun Jaitley from the north zone and Sudhir Dabir from central zone. Insiders say that Chitrak Mitra from the east has let it be known that he will not quit while the other two vice-presidents, Shivlal Yadav from south zone and Niranjan Shah from the west, remain undecided.ESPNcricinfo understands that senior BCCI officials had been in constant discussion with Srinivasan, asking him to step aside from his office as board president until the three-man commission completed its inquiry into his son-in-law Gurunath, the Super Kings owners India Cements, and the owners of Rajasthan Royals. Srinivasan, however, had paid no heed to their advice.Late on Friday, Srinivasan agreed to call for a working committee meeting next week to discuss the corruption issues plaguing the IPL. The date of the meeting is yet to be confirmed, but ESPNcricinfo understands it will be held over the next weekend.

No instant cure for Indian cricket, says Dalmiya

Jagmohan Dalmiya, the former BCCI president who will carry out the day-to-day administration of the Indian board following N Srinivasan’s decision to step aside temporarily, has said he is keen to restore Indian cricket’s “good name”

Jagmohan Dalmiya: “I may or may not represent BCCI at ICC, no decision has been taken yet”•Associated Press

Jagmohan Dalmiya, the former BCCI president who will carry out the day-to-day administration of the Indian board following N Srinivasan’s decision to step aside temporarily while the investigation into corruption in the IPL is on, has said he is keen to restore Indian cricket’s “good name”, but did not promise “instant results”.Speaking a day after his appointment as temporary BCCI head, Dalmiya said he did not have “any medicine [with which] you get an instant result. We don’t have any such kind of a magic. We will try our best … [to see that] the good name of cricket is retained.”Dalmiya remained noncommittal on whether he will represent India at the ICC while at the BCCI’s helm. “I may or may not represent BCCI at ICC, no decision has been taken yet,” he said. “I am entitled, it is my choice.”He confirmed that Sanjay Jagdale, who tendered his resignation as BCCI secretary on Friday in wake of the scandal, will not return to his post. However, Ajay Shirke, who stepped down as board treasurer, had still not confirmed his exit, Dalmiya said: “As far as Jagdale is concerned, he has told us that he does not want to continue as secretary. But we have not been able to communicate with Shirke so far. We are hoping that we would be able to get a reply [on whether he has reconsidered his decision] from him by tomorrow. We will wait till tomorrow.”When asked about the process by which Jagdale would be replaced, Dalmiya was again noncommittal: “Whether [the power to appoint a new secretary is] available [to me] or not, you will come know tomorrow. I think I have been given adequate powers by the board. But I am not concerned about whether I have powers or not. My concern is that I want to do my duty.”BCCI aside, Dalmiya has headed the ICC previously, and is widely credited to be one of the chief architects who laid the foundation for Indian cricket to become the financial powerhouse it is. This time though, 73-year-old Dalmiya said he would not be looking to call the shots for too long. “I will be happy if I can serve cricket. That is enough for me. I don’t have any wishful thinking.”

Diego Souza no Botafogo?

O LANCE! cita alguns casos icônicos e, no geral, bem-sucedidos. Confira abaixo:
